Playing French TABOO is a great way to get students to speak French and learn a lot of new vocabulary. This game is simple to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. In this CALENDRIER et HEURE theme version of the game there 40 French-English cards. There are 2 fun ways to play this fun vocabulary game and both are explained in the instructions.

Object of the game:
One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Beginner students should be allowed to use the TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

There are many ways you can use this set of task cards:
➤ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions. Answer key is provided for small group work or centers.
➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box.
➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out correct answers to false statements.
➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer.
➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards.
➤ Scoot: Put one card on each desk in the classroom. Give each student a response sheet and set a timer to give them just enough time to answer true or false and to correct the false statements. When the timer rings students move on to the next desk and the next question. All cards are numbered so it is simple to stay organized. Full instructions are included.
➤ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move.
➤ Use the cards as an icebreaker activity at the beginning of the school year or right after school holidays.

Practice is what it takes when learning verb conjugations. This audio recorded drill will help students practice and master regular and irregular French verbs in the passé composé. There is a mixture of verbs that use avoir and être as helping verb, and reflexive verbs are included. This is a verb drill of 100 common French verbs that you can use either in the classroom or language lab. I've included five great ways for you to use this drill.
The audio recording you will download will be great for listening comprehension and oral production, written exercises, paired work and even a cooperative learning group writing game.

During the recording the verbs are not numbered so that you can easily choose a group of 10 or 15 at any point during the exercise to use as bell ringer reviews or to get your students in French mode as they enter the classroom. Use this drill at any time during the year as an excellent review. Use it with upper level students who sometimes need to revise the basics or provide a copy to struggling students who can use it as review while riding on the bus or in the car.

Everyone loves a good game of BATTLESHIP, and the French classroom is a better place than any! You can use this classic game format to have your students practice the imperfect tense. This game is perfect for both core and immersion curriculums and everything written on the games is in French.
*There is not an answer key included with this resource due to the number of responses possible. I encourage you to allow your students to use a resource that you choose for them to check your answers. If you're not sure what to use I can highly recommend verb2verb.com.
This resource includes 40 regular and irregular verbs. 5 different versions of the game are included.
ust print out one page of the version of this game that you want to use per student. Students place boats (which are squares on the game sheets that they will have darkened with a pencil) on the game board. Students play against each other to try to find and eventually sink their opponent’s boats.
Subject pronouns are written in the vertical column and infinitives are written in the boxes at the top. To choose a square, the player must say the subject and correct verb form in the imperfect tense. Another idea is to have students make simple sentences using the subject pronoun and verb of choice.
All of the vocabulary they’ll need is written right on the game sheet and it is all in French. Each game sheet includes two battleship grids and a line separating the two. Students can fold the paper on the line if they want to. One of the grids is for a player to place his boats and the other is to mark and keep track of his opponent.

French pronouns audio drill - 50 sentences to improve listening and speaking skills.
This is a 24 minute MP3 audio recording of 50 sentences that will be restated or written by your students using a pronoun or double pronouns. Each sentence is read twice before time is given for student responses, then the answer is given. You will appreciate the differences in the voices used in this recording. There are three different voices, all native speakers. I'm including five different ways that you can use this pronoun audio drill (see below). Suitable for core, immersion and homeschool curriculums. This drill is also fantastic practice for the AP or DELF exam.

Have your students unscramble words to make grammatically sound sentences in French. This exercise / worksheet includes ten sentences to unscramble and focuses on using the verb AVOIR in the present tense. Some of the sentences include negation. The sentences are 10 to 14 words in length and are a good challenge for beginners. This exercise is also great to use as a review. You could even cut out the sentences into strips and use them as bell-ringers, exit slips or a fun scoot game.

When you are teaching or reviewing FRENCH DIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS your students will have a great time practicing with this hands on game: QUEL DOMMAGE!! This is a review game in which students play by replacing the underlined words in a sentence with a direct object pronoun. There is an answer key that students will use to check their work. Sentences are in the present, passé composé and futur proche tenses and some use simple negation. Perfect supplement for core French, French immersion and homeschool curriculums.
Using pronouns is essential to forming a strong base knowledge of French, yet they can be difficult to master without lots and lots of practice and review. You can pull this game out time and time again over the course of the years for a no-prep activity. Detailed instructions on how to play are included so that even subs can have your students play this fun game when you need to be away.
How to play QUEL DOMMAGE:
All you have to do is print the game cards on heavy paper or card stock and cut them out. If you laminate them you'll have a no prep activity ready to go for years to come! Put all of the game pieces in a box and divide your students into small teams. Give each team gets a box of questions and a copy of the answer key.
Students replace underlined words with direct object pronouns LE - LA - LES and say the sentence correctly. When they are correct (their opponents or team members can verify responses on the provided answer key), they get to keep their game card. However, when they draw a QUEL DOMMAGE card they have to put all of their game cards back in the box. The student with the most game cards at the end is the winner.
